Often at the poker table, there will be one specific card in the deck that would spark an insane amount of action. It may improve two players’ hands to the virtual nuts, yet one will lose thousands while the other reaps in their opponent’s misfortune. During a huge cash game at the Lodge Card Club – Bulldog, Tesla and Doug Polk find themselves involved in a massive pot when the river card improves Bulldog to a full house & Tesla to a flush! But will the British Bulldog get paid in full by his wild opponent?

When you have a fairly weak flush draw in a multi-way pot, it’s important to understand your opponents’ ranges and make disciplined laydowns, even if you might be getting the correct pot odds. Calling with a weak flush draw on a paired board could spell disaster for you as you might already be drawing dead to a full house or have very few outs against a stronger flush draw. It’s crucial to make disciplined folds in these situations.

Doug Polk ‘WCGRider’ is the owner of The Lodge Card Room along with Brad Owen and Andrew Neeme. Doug has over $9,500,000 in live tournament earnings and 3 World Series Of Poker (WSOP) bracelets, including a win in the 2017 $100k Super High Roller for $1,600,000.

In early 2022, poker professionals Doug Polk, Brad Owen and Andrew Neeme joined forces to acquire a controlling stake in The Lodge Poker Club & Card Room, which happens to be the largest poker establishment in Austin, Texas. Preflop:
Bulldog raises under the gun to $1,000 with QJ offsuit. Doug Polk calls from the small blind with T9 of hearts and Tesla squeezes from the big blind to $6,000 with A7 of hearts. Bulldog calls the 3-bet with his two broadway cards and Doug calls with his suited connector.

Flop – Qh 5h 4s:
The flop gives every player a glimmer of hope in the hand. Doug checks with his ten-high flush draw (that he doesn’t want to hit!) Tesla with his nut flush draw fires a continuation bet of $7,000. Bulldog calls with top pair and Doug calls with his dominated flush draw.

Turn – Qc:
The board pairing queen of clubs on the turn only helps Bulldog, improving him to trips. Doug checks first with just ten-high, having not picked up a backdoor straight draw or improved to a flush. Tesla chooses not to double barrel since it’s likely one of his opponents has a queen and he does have some showdown value with ace-high. After Tesla checks, Bulldog bets $15,000 with his three queens. Doug wisely folds his draw, but Tesla sticks around as the two of them head to the river.

River – Jh:
The biggest action card in the deck, the jack of hearts, hits the river. Bulldog improves to the nuts with a full house, queens full of jacks, while Tesla makes the second-best hand with an ace-high flush. Now, with Tesla first to act, how will he proceed? Will he check, worried Bulldog might have a boat, or will he move all-in, hoping to get paid by a queen? Stay tuned until the end of this poker video to find out!
