Organic Farming and Food - Pegoty Hedge Farmer Oliver Surman
Manage episode 382890159 series 3527527
Today I’m joined by 4th generation organic farmer Oliver Surman of Pegoty Hedge. Pegoty Hedge is a mixed organic farm and since 2008 Pegoty Hedge started producing small-batch organic prepared meals packaged in recycled and recyclable packaging. As farmers, they understand how important the land is to their livelihood and the populations so they make sure their practices tread lightly on the planet. They have large areas of the farm set over to species-rich planting specifically to encourage and protect wild birds, bees, insects, and butterflies. Their hot water and heating are provided by their on-site biomass boiler and, when the sun is shining, they produce more than enough solar energy to power the farm and kitchen.
