I wanted to cover something my brother taught me…much later in life. Sean moved back to St. Louis to be close to family, he did that by taking a recruiter position in the Navy here in St. Louis. I watched him progress into the role and it clearly wasn’t for him. When we would get a beer he wouldn’t hold back on how much he didn’t care for the new job or how much he missed flying in the MH53. He seemed really unhappy, he seemed burnt out and overall not engaged or focused on what he was doing at all. Fast forward a handful of years later, Sean passes away in a helicopter crash in Oman. I am helping Amy hang some stuff in the bar. I grab a plaque and read it. It was an award for being the best recruiter in the region. That took me back. He hated it, he was miserable, longing for being back in a helicopter. But he still made sure he did it well. He was the best at the job he hated. He didn’t let his frustrations or hatred for the work derail him doing it well. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/jason-sullivan/support
