I will make for him a suitable helper.” We translate suitable helper from the Hebrew words Ezer Kenedgo The word ezer is used 21 times in the Old Testament, 16 times God uses it to describe Himself. Other times it is used to describe military help, such as reinforcements without which a battle would be lost.” There are other Hebrew words that could have been used to describe the concept of a helper, but the one God chose is a helper like Himself. Women are not merely assistants but empowered partners who contribute uniquely to relationships and communities.
