On this week's episode Josh goes deep on a common topic that Freeheel Life customers have, "How is the transition to NTN (New Telemark Norm) and what can I expect?" He guides listeners through 5 key steps to transitioning to NTN that will help everyone know what to expect, ways to identify the right gear beforehand, and how to trouble shoot anything that doesn't feel right.

5 Key Steps to Transitioning to NTN:

  1. Identify your current 75mm setup:
    1. Boots
    2. bindings
    3. era of equipment
    4. needs for touring or inbounds
    5. Pivot points
  2. Identify and understand your style of Telemark skiing
    1. Low smoker
    2. Modern stand-up
    3. I make p-turns
  3. Make a choice in gear that fits criteria 1 & 2
    1. Outlaw X
    2. Freeride
    3. Freedom
    4. LYNX
    5. Meidjo
    6. TTS
  4. Day 1 on your new setup
    1. Make some p-turns to get to know the ski, the shape, & feel of the ski
    2. Start your Telemark turns as if you have your old gear on with your style, etc
    3. If it feels off, start to identify what things are limiting your movement, etc.
    4. Get in reps!
    5. Make adjustments to the binding to personalize it if possible
  5. Allow some time for the reps to work & continue to get to know your new equipment
