In this episode, Brett and Laura Chotkevys talk about money. A lot of people sometimes feel like the act of chasing money and wealth can be greedy and immoral. Especially in our modern political climate where it seems a lot of people want to move away from capitalism. However, Brett and Laura disagree with this. They think that the act of building wealth is actually a good thing. Money by itself isn’t inherently good or evil; it’s just a tool that helps you be yourself.
Brett explains how people who start a business contribute to society by fixing a problem. The bigger the problem, the better and more profitable the business becomes if it’s able to meet that need. That is why business is great; if the business fails to meet the needs of the public, it will go under. Also, think of how many people make their living off of working for these large companies. Google alone employs tens of thousands of employees with large wages. The idea that money is bad and is the root of all evil is something that everyone is told growing up. What Brett and Laura challenge you to do in this episode is to reframe your biased view of money to a more neutral point of view.
