TONIGHT: The Pathway to Survival Following Life-Threatening Trauma “There is life after tragedy,” Patience Carter, director for the Gun Violence Survivors Foundation, talks about her path to regaining her emotional and physical strength after being shot during the 2016 Pulse nightclub massacre in Orlando, Florida where 49 people were killed and more than 50 were hurt. Carter was there with 18-year-old Akyra Murray of Philadelphia, who was the youngest shooting victim to die in the attack. Patience Carter takes listeners through that terrifying night, and how she is helping other trauma victims move forward. She also previews her upcoming book “Survive Then Live”, which will be released in June.
