Joel Rifkin is an American serial killer convicted of murdering nine women between 1989 and 1993, although he is believed to have killed as many as 17. He targeted sex workers in New York City, often strangling and dismembering his victims before disposing of their bodies in various locations. Rifkin's capture in 1993, after a routine traffic stop revealed a body in his truck, ended his reign of terror and led to his conviction and sentencing to 203 years to life in prison.
