This episode I get to talk with a guest about a subject I'm really passionate about, the art of DJing. But this episode is not about me, its about my guest Sega Genn. In the span of a few years Genn has already become a sought after DJ within Providence RI with an eclectic blend of house, hip-hop, and genres from all over the globe. We talk about her first rave experience, having her own college radio show, starting a podcast, the economics of being a DJ, the work and practice behind the scenes, why gear envy is stupid, and things you should not ask a DJ while their spinning. But there's another story here, a story about balance. Not allowing yourself to become addicted to the highs and the lows. Not letting the standards of what others think make a professional, dictate what you do. How you don't have to make your professional and creative life an all or nothing battle. How to perform and stand out even if your a bit of an introvert. How showing vulnerability can lead to success, and a whole lot more.
