Today we interview the fascinating Riley Cagle, whose resume includes working in a US Congressional office and being a lobbyist on Capitol Hill.

He teaches us HOW Congressional offices work. (I felt like I was there!) We learn how they deal with the massive amount of comments they receive via letter, phonecall, or email. (One office received 1.7 million communications in one year!)

Does anybody actually read your letters? Do your representatives themselves reply to you or is it just "some intern"? Riley answers those questions and explains how Constituent Relations Management works.

Do representatives use AI to respond to citizens? Do lawmakers use AI to write or summarize bills? Who is Claude? The answers aren't as bad as I expected. (All I could think of was Number Johnny Five dressed in a suit applauding a State of the Union address he wrote!)

Finally, feel free to leave us a review on whatever podcast directory you use, such as Apple Podcasts or Google Podcasts, etc. It'll help new people discover the show!
