Nikki Heyder is a somatic psychotherapist, coach, and therapeutic Yoga teacher who helps clients overcome issues like low self worth, addictive tendencies, unresolved trauma, stress, anxiety, and overwhelm. She joins me today to riff on perfectionism, shame, and the importance of embracing all parts of ourselves.

We discuss how perfectionism is driven by shame, a fear of failure, chaos, conflict, or the fear of being exposed or vulnerable. We explore the lesser-known ways that perfectionism can show up, such as people-pleasing and suppressing certain emotions. We also dive into the importance of accepting and owning all aspects of ourselves, practicing self-compassion, and using curiosity to learn and grow. Plus the impact of perfectionism and people-pleasing on our lives.
We explore the role of our nervous system in triggering these behaviors and how to navigate them with compassion and self-acceptance. We also discuss the importance of being true to ourselves and living a life aligned with our values.

09:30

13:41

19:38
