Michael Barnes has become the oldest winner in the 75 year history of the 75th Daytona 200! There were many fancy transporters and well funded teams in the event. Barnes arrived with his Yamaha in the back of a pickup truck and took home the lions share of the $175,000 purse and a new Rolex plus Yamaha contingency. His story is one we can't wait to hear! Arthur Kowitz was a true privateer when he went up against the factory giants in AMA Superbike in the 80's. In the 75th Daytona 200 he became the oldest known rider to ever qualify/start and finish the 200! In between he has done many things on the racetrack but most notable is his influence in the electric motorcycle road racing sport! Art joins us with his story in this edition of Talking Motorcycles. Kevin Elliott is the President of the American Sportbike Racing Association who conducted the Daytona 200 at the World Center of Racing. Working closely with International Speedway Corporation and Daytona International Speedway the75th Daytona 200 happened and the total purse was $175,000 plus over $80,000 in contingency funds for the riders.
