Episode 46: Adam Bloom and Finding Your Comic Genius
Manage episode 395111849 series 1103009
There's a book out that's been making waves in the stand up comedy scene. The book is called Finding Your Comic Genius: An in-depth guide to the art of stand-up comedy.
I heard a lot of buzz from Finnish comedians about this, so I bought it. I was blown away. I've read a lot on comedy writing, done 45 episodes of comedy writing podcast, and - of course - written a million jokes myself, too. Still, reading this book was a revelation to me.
Nothing has improved my writing in a day more than reading this book. So I was all hyped about this.
I reached out to the author Adam Bloom. He accepted my invite to join me on the podcast, which is a great honour. We had an inspirational and – most of all – educational discussion on the ins and outs of writing stand up comedy.
Adam Bloom is a multi-award-winning stand-up comedian and writer. As well as making over 40 national TV appearances in Britain and several in The U.S. and Canada, he has also ghostwritten for 62 comedians and has worked on 29 projects with an Oscar nominee. He has written and performed three series of “The Problem with Adam Bloom” for BBC Radio 4.
You can get the book on Amazon on paperback and Kindle. No, let me rephrase it. You should get the book on Amazon on paperback or Kindle.
