The Survivor Reference Group (SRG) podcast miniseries is by survivors for survivors, but it's also for anyone who wants to hear directly from survivors about their experiences, from seeking justice to self-care to what it's like to access support, so make sure you give other episodes a listen and let us know what you think.
Episode 3: Seeking Justice Part One - reporting
Making the decision to report sexual violence to the police can be very difficult. In this episode, SRG members Alison, Cerys and Chloe talk about their experiences of reporting, what they wish they had known before they reported and what they think anyone who might be considering reporting should know. Rape Crisis Scotland Justice Services Manager Katie Anderson also discusses what the reporting process is like and the support available from Rape Crisis advocacy services, which you can access throughout your entire justice journey.
If you've experienced sexual violence, you can now self-refer for a forensic medical exam without needing to report to the police first. You can self-refer through the Sexual Assault Referral Centre phone line on 0800 148 88 88.
Content warning: Please listen with care and be aware that there are discussions of sexual violence and mental health throughout this episode.
If you need support, our helpline is open 5pm - midnight every night.
