“Connecting People to Change Lives.”
The Scottish charity the Vine Trust has years of experience organising building expeditions by school groups, church and community groups and companies. They went to build homes near Moshi and in the new village being created near Lake Victoria, mainly for families affected by AIDS. But, with the global Covid-19 pandemic that all stopped for a while… It takes time to prepare people to go out, and raise the required funds to get there and support the homes to be built – but in 2024 the teams are back. The need is still there and willing hands and arms make it possible.
Neil Graham and Fiona Jardine were among a group that set off from Scotland to Tanzania in August this year to get on with the fetching and carrying which enable more homes to be created. They talked to Margaret about their experiences.
