In this episode, Lisa and Lauren read Manifest Destiny Nightcrawler #1 (2009). Taking place shortly after the 2007 Nightcrawler series, Kurt didn't seem to have a "place" in X-Men comics back then- and writers and editorial knew it. Thus, they created this one-shot where Kurt leaves the X-Men and tries to find his purpose again.
