Welcome back to SHPE Out Loud! In our 14th episode of the "50 Stories for 50 Years" series, host Demian Servín Hernández continues the captivating tale of Ismael Mendoza, following up on last week's episode featuring his wife, Yuliana Porras-Mendoza.

Ismael's journey mirrors Yuliana's in many ways, from their shared experiences at the Colorado School of Mines to their involvement with SHPE. Facing language barriers and a sense of not belonging, Ismael found solace and community within SHPE, eventually rising to become Chapter President, RVP, and Chair of the National Convention - twice!

Graduating with a degree in Electrical Engineering, Ismael's career led him to the National Renewable Energy Laboratory, where he now serves as a subject matter expert and technical advisor for Latin American countries undergoing energy transitions or natural disasters. His dedication to SHPE's mission and his insights into the advantages of Hispanic representation in STEM make him a true asset to our organization.

Don't miss this enlightening conversation as Ismael Mendoza shares his life, work, and commitment to SHPE's mission.
