Welcome to the inaugural episode of the Shlurp Podcast! In this podcast, Joe and I will be talking about life through the lens of two Gen Z coffee snobs. We both have years of experience in the coffee industry, working in every role from barista all the way up to general manager of multiple stores. But what we care about most is having some laughs and sharing stories over an incredible cup of coffee.
In today's episode, we introduce ourselves, talk about our coffee shop icks, vent about why home baristas are different than real baristas, and share industry secrets about Yelp. I also introduce a segment called the "Coffee Break," where each week I'll share a new coffee recipe with Joe.
In this week's Coffee Break, I made a Guatemalan washed coffee from Anomaly Coffee Roasters in Long Beach, CA. You can find them on Instagram @anomaly.coffee.co and their website is: https://anomalycoffeecompany.com/
Video Chapters:
0:00-3:35 - Introduction and purpose for the pod
3:35-10:30 - Customer interactions from the week
10:30-15:47 - Our coffee shop pet peeves
15:47-21:33 - Problem solving espresso machine issues
21:33-30:15 - Reacting to Jimmy the Barista's hot take series
30:15-42:35 - Our problem with the 'home barista'
42:35-45:09 - Tricks for remembering which drink was decaf
45:09-46:39 - Jeremy's friend's confession about serving a drink with a bug in it
46:39-49:18 - Would you send a drink back with a bug in it? (And some Yelp secrets)
49:18-54:20 - Worst type of customers in the world
54:20-58:52 - Coffee break!
