This week things get gritty as we look at the issue which came in 44th place: The Question #1 by Dennis O’Neil, Denys Cowan, Rick Magyar, Tatjana Wood and Gaspar Saladino.

If you like noir you’ll be in your element here, with a distinctly of-its-time first issue which sets up the story of vigilante Vic Sage (aka The Question) as a precarious stack of dominos, which then inevitably start to collapse into one another. Things go wrong very very quickly, and despite the machismo and bravado which runs violently through the entire issue, Vic’s life goes downhill in swift and brutal fashion. But there’s so much more to the comic than just the final few pages and a great cliffhanger, and Matt is joined by special guest David Brothers (4thLetter, ComicsAlliance) to take a much deeper dive into the world of The Question!
