The Different Types of Comparison

Downward comparison is when you compare your situation to others who are not as successful, and upward comparison is when you compare yourself to people you believe are more accomplished. On the one hand, it can help with goal setting, but on the downside, it can spur negative thoughts and beliefs. The “Wow, I don’t have that!” and “I’ll never be as good as…” variety.

Keep it Under Control

As we discussed before, comparison can get out of hand, yet it’s a byproduct of being human. So, how do we be more aware, intentional, and kind to ourselves and others? It’s inevitable. That’s our focus; we cannot wait to dive into it with you.
