Chronic stress is a well-known cause of health problems, such as high blood pressure, cardiovascular diseases, and mental health challenges. But stress is a part of our busy lives that we cannot avoid. The good news is that you are more than capable of finding solutions and all it takes is one decision to change the outcome.

In today's episode of the Health Conscious Living podcast, Dr. Gayle Myers shares strategies to reduce stress and focus on finding solutions. We'll explore what "stress" really is, identify different stressors, and discover various stress antidotes that can help us effectively manage stress.

Highlights of this episode:

  • What is stress?
  • Acute and chronic stress
  • The importance of identifying stressors
  • Techniques for managing stress and rebalance in the moment: deep breathing, digital detox, gratitude journaling
  • Lifestyle habits to reduce stress load: sleep, exercise, meditation

Dr Gayle's favorite is Box Breathing for any stressor:

Inhale through your nose for 4 seconds.

Hold for 4 seconds.

Exhale through your mouth for 4 seconds.

Hold for 4 seconds.

Repeat for 3-5 minutes or until you feel re-centered and more balanced. If 4 seconds is too long, start with 3 seconds.
