Ten (10) years ago! Webb Pierce starts things with "It's Been So Long" from 1953. Dave does his show opening monologue and says hello to several long time listeners. “Out Among the Stars” by Johnny Cash a rarely heard song from the 1980's. Dave promises at the top of the hour we will present another version of “Who Sings it Better”. A segment we do from time to time. In response to loyal long time listener, Pete Costello, Dave gives a “grandchild” update. Dave deviates from the format for Pete, and plays "Hawaiian War Chant" an American popular song by Tommy Dorsey recorded on November 29, 1938. Next we hear Carroll County Accident No. 2 by Ben Colder, AKA Sheb Wooley. Then we hear Doyle and Debbie, a Show which is sublime parody, simultaneously lampooning and idolizing country music's tradition of iconic duos and their subsequent battle of the sexes. Dave mentions listeners in the chat room at the moment. Next is John Anderson – I'm Just An Old Chunk Of Coal (But I'm Gonna Be A Diamond Someday). It's time for “Who Sings it Better” perhaps our most comprehensive, and best segment we have ever done. Please enjoy. There's 90 more minutes of great country tunes ahead. They were forgotten by The Country Music Industry, Country Radio, and even The Grand Ole Opry – Pioneers of Country proudly remember those artists, and the music they made popular. Special Note: Most of the E-Mail, chat room, and web sites mentioned no longer exist. Your best bet to keep in contact with Pioneers Of Country is on Pod-O-Matic or on our Facebook Page.
