In this episode, we will be busting some myths around starting a YouTube channel. Myth #1: You have to post a new video every week, preferably twice. Many experts will tell you that you need to be posting on your YouTube channel twice a week, especially when you’re getting started. Isn’t that pretty overwhelming? That approach can work because it’s consistent for your audience and you’ll get better at it the more you do it. However, often the people that recommend this either have a lot more time on their hands and/or have a team helping on the strategy and production end. Myth #2: You need fancy equipment to get subscribers. Or on the other side, you can just use your phone. Fancy equipment is expensive, can be tricky to use, and isn’t a guarantee that you’ll attract subscribers. It can easily get overwhelming and be another hurdle to overcome before starting your channel. On the other hand, just using your phone can work, but videos take up a lot of storage space so your phone will fill up quickly. I recommend a webcam, and it doesn’t have to be a fancy one. Myth #3: You need to script out every word of your videos. If you want to, that’s fine, but personally it distracts me when I can tell that someone’s reading from a teleprompter. I recommend having an outline to keep on track If you're looking for more guidance on how to plan your videos, I made a video on my channel all about the behind the scenes of my planning process, which you can check out here:https://youtu.be/_fNoc99IIy0 ( https://youtu.be/_fNoc99IIy0) If you're ready to launch your YouTube channel once and for all, head over tohttps://soniateachesvideo.com ( soniateachesvideo.com).
