There once were open lunches.

Ain’t talkin’ no fancy brunches!

“We were immortal.”

Jack did chortle.

As his Festiva engine scrunches!

Open lunches…. a high schoolers dream... a city and a school district’s nightmare. Open lunches were the decades long practice where high schools would simply open their doors up at lunch time and release hundreds of 14 through 18 year olds throughout the community to go wherever their little hearts desired, as long as they were back within the 45 minute lunch period.

As you can guess.... we took FULL advantage of this in the 1990's at John Adams High School. As you'll hear, at the exact same time we were enjoying the freedom of open lunches, there was actually a large community debate to close them. Any reasonable human listening to this episode will understand why the debate ensued.
