After talking last week about the newest Kingsguard Ser Robert Strong, and the week before about the lusty Lucamore Strong, figured this week would venture back into the main books and talk the Kingsguard who lost his head and soiled his cloak like a modern Lucamore in Dorne: Ser Arys Oakheart. One of the very few single POV chapter characters that isn't a prologue or epilogue, Arys shows up in the story to only quickly exit it. And yet, there's good reasons George included the most recently casualty of the Kingsguard. Honor, duty, vows, and the unstoppable advances of Arianne Martell. And of course, the similarities between the life and death of Ser Arys Oakheart and the legend of Ser Gawain and the Green Knight. How the axe looms over Arys' head just as it did Gawain.
