Speaker: Jeff Jarvis

“Sir/Maam, there’s been an accident…”. It’s a phone call no one wants to get. In moments like this panic can set in. A desperation that can have us crying out for help, especially in the form of prayer. Asking/pleading for God, the universe, whatever may be out there – to intervene somehow on behalf of a loved one.

Have you ever prayed a prayer like this? Even if you weren’t sure what you believed or what difference you thought it would make?

Though prayers like these often come out of desperation – they can offer hope that something out there might be able to intervene. Sadly, they can also confuse, disappoint, and even hurt when they go unanswered.

This week we begin a 3 part series to talk about our human understandings and beliefs about God, where they came from, and how they can influence our reactions to life as it unfolds around us. Whether you’re a theist, an atheist, or an agnostic, we assure you there will be lots of food for thought that could be helpful for the journey ahead. Invite a friend and join us this Sunday.
