In this episode of Saints and Sinners Unplugged, Ken Jones, David Menendez, and Jose Prado discuss the book of Galatians and how it relates to the gospel, the law, and the covenant. They explore the historical and theological background of Paul's letter to the Galatian churches, who were troubled by Judaizers who insisted that Gentiles must be circumcised and keep the Mosaic law in order to be saved. They also examine how Paul uses the example of Abraham and his faith to show that the true children of Abraham are those who believe in Christ, not those who rely on works of the law. They also address some of the implications and applications of this message for the church today, especially in terms of how we view ourselves and others in light of God's grace.

Some of the topics covered in this episode are:

  • The context and purpose of the Jerusalem Council in Acts 15, where Peter, Paul, and Barnabas defended the gospel of grace against the Judaizers.
  • The difference between the covenant of promise given to Abraham and the covenant of law given to Moses, and how they point to Christ as the fulfillment of both.
  • The meaning and significance of justification by faith alone, and how it excludes any boasting or self-righteousness on our part.
  • The danger of legalism and tribalism in the church, and how they undermine the unity and diversity of God's people.
  • The role of the law as a tutor and a mirror that reveals our sinfulness and drives us to Christ, who is our righteousness and life.
