The War and Treaty’s Michael and Tanya Trotter grew up in Cleveland, Ohio, and Washington, DC, respectively, but both have family roots in the South. They also grew up in the musical traditions of their churches – Tanya in the Black Baptist Church and Michael in the Seventh Day Adventist Church – where they learned the power of song to move people. After becoming a father at a very young age, Michael eventually joined the armed forces and served in Iraq and Germany, where he took up songwriting as a way of dealing with his experiences there. Meanwhile Tanya embarked on a singing and acting career after a breakthrough appearance in Sister Act 2 alongside Whoopi Goldberg and Lauryn Hill. Now, after a long and sometimes traumatic journey, Michael and Tanya are married, touring, winning all sorts of awards, and set to release their fifth album together, and their fourth as The War and Treaty. Sid talks to Michael and Tanya about the new record, Plus One , as well as their collaboration with Miranda Lambert, what it was like to record at FAME studios in Muscle Shoals, and how they’re blending country, soul, gospel, and R&B. ×Week 4 brings us to “The Roommate”, a garbage and fedora filled movie that we both hated. We talk confusing 2000s movies, how this movie stars a fedora and belly button ring, and cat horror (#JusticeforCuddles). Stats/info: 2011, directed by Christian E. Christiansen, starring Leighton Meester, Minka Kelly, Cam Gigandet, Danneel Harris, Matt Lanter, and Aly Michalka…

This week we watch the remake of 1988’s Child Play, and were very unimpressed. We talk about Chucky and Andy’s dysfunctional relationship, neglectful parenting, suburban watermelon patches, and the moment we would have yeeted a Buddi doll out of the house. We’re #TeamAnnabelle in this fight, for sure. Rate and subscribe or you’ll never have a Buddi doll. Stats/info: 2019, directed by Lars Klevberg, starring Aubrey Plaza, Gabriel Bateman, Brian Tyree Henry and Mark Hamill…

Final week in possession month leads us to a very unimpressive movie - Evil Dead remake. We discuss the science of how water + sugar = blood, cat worms making you a zombie demon, how long you have to bury someone before they’re exorcised, and how David just straight up SUCKS. Mostly, we just think this movie was made (at least in part) as a personal revenge fantasy against some teacher called Eric. Be sure to rate and subscribe or we’ll defib you. Stats/info: 2013 directed by Fede Álvarez, starring Jane Levy, Shiloh Fernandez, Lou Taylor Pucci, Jessica Lucas, and Elizabeth Blackmore…

Be sure to rate and subscribe or we’ll put your doll conduit in a closet. Stats/info: 2017, directed by David F. Sandberg, starring Stephanie Sigman, Talitha Bateman, Anthony LaPaglia, and Miranda Otto…

Welcome to week 3 of horror romance month. This week served up some real lukewarm content with 2014’s, “Life After Beth.” It was one of those movies that didn’t know what it wanted to be and just tried to dang hard. Be sure to rate and subscribe otherwise you’ll be thrown into a lukewarm liquid of your choosing. Stats/info: 2014, Directed by Jeff Baena, starring Aubrey Plaza, Dane DeHaan, John C. Reilly, Molly Shannon, and Matthew Gray Gubler…
Happy Valentine’s Day to you and your zombie lovers/friends. We. Love. This. Movie. We did have some questions though. What’s the timeline? BZ? AZ? BZE? Who else died in Julie’s life? Should we develop a program in case of zombies to just give them each a kiss? Were R’s feelings for Julie real? Where did she get that weed wacker? In any case, make sure to rate and subscribe otherwise you’ll never get true love’s kiss. Stats/info: 2013, written by Jonathan Levine, starring Nicholas Hoult, Teresa Palmer, Analeigh Tipton, and John Malkovich…
