We can never talk about improving our health or strengthening our immune systems too much during these grisly days of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Dr. Columbus Batiste, fondly called The Heart Health Doc, is back with more great conversation and tips on taking better care of ourselves and the ones we love.

Columbus D. Batiste, MD, FACC, FSCAI is a board certified Internist, Cardiologist, and Interventional Cardiologist. He is currently the Chief of Cardiology at Kaiser Permanente Riverside and Moreno Valley Medical Centers, and the former co-director of the Kaiser Permanente Inland Empire Cardiac Catheterization Services.

In 2011, Dr. Batiste led out in establishing the Integrative Cardiovascular Disease Program (based at Kaiser Permanente. The objective of this program is to prevent the onset and re-occurrence of cardiovascular disease focusing on lifestyle modification. Dr. Batiste is a strong advocate for a plant based diet, exercise and stress reduction. He has been lecturing in the community over the past several years.

Dr. Batiste, also known as “Healthy Heart Doc,” is a board certified Internist, Cardiologist, and Interventional Cardiologist. Since graduating from Loma Linda University in 2004 and completion of his Interventional Cardiology Fellowship in 2006, Dr. Batiste has performed nearly 2000 coronary interventions, and hundreds of pacemaker implantations. He has been recognized for his work by multiple organizations ranging from the medical center physician of the year (2010), Inland Empire Magazine Heart Hero (2010), Eagle Award for Excellence in Medicine (2013), to the Derrell Thomas Foundation Community Service Award recipient (2013).

Dr. Batiste’s mission is to share information so that “each one can teach one” about the benefits of exercise and healthy eating and therefore; provide everyone with the opportunity to take control of their health. Through the Healthy Heart Doc page on Facebook, Dr. Batiste is dedicated not only to provide information, but also to provide a community of support for people on the road to a healthy lifestyle and a healthy heart.
