Understanding Neo-Nationalisms in a Global Context with Professor José Casanova
Manage episode 394807268 series 3549274
The relations between religions, nationalisms, and patterns of globalization have historically been and continue to be complex, multifaceted, and diverse. They can hardly be reduced to simple unilinear, unidirectional, or universal formulations, or to simple alternating dynamics between progressive globalization and regressive reactive re-nationalizations. Professor Casanova guides us through the emergence of different types of neo-nationalism in the EU and beyond, providing us with powerful analogies, historical contexts, and seemingly ignored factors that reveal complex transnational coalitions beyond the European Union.
