In today’s episode of Figuring Out, we have Kailash Kher in conversation with Raj Shamani. He is the magical voice behind songs like ‘Teri Deewani,’ Saiyyan,’ and ‘Allah Ke Bandhe.’
There are legendary artists born every once in an era and he is surely one of them. He has even received Padma Shri for his contribution to the music industry. In this episode, we talked about my memory from school of the ‘Teri Deewani’ song, we talked about his old trending interview where he says he can’t sing the kind of songs other singers sing, and about his childhood, how he ran away from home at the age of 13. He then shared his life after leaving the house, odd jobs that he did, success in exports then went on to become a pandit, suicide attempt, and how his life changed after that. He also shared how he got into music, his first gig, and how he got established in the industry. Towards the end, we talked about how he met A. R. Rahman, the story of how Teri Deewani's song came into existence, his concert experiences, and his best and worst concert experiences.
