We're excited to release our third episode of Poor Man's Podcast Spaced Out. On Spaced Out, Chris Hopper sits down with science communicator James Sanders to discuss a variety of topics relating to space and astronomy. James specializes in cosmology and astrophysics. The goal of the show is to learn about space in a way that is easy to understand even if you don't know anything about the subject. This show is for anyone, regardless of prior knowledge.
Some of the topics they talk about are:

  • Types of eclipses
  • Lunar eclipse vs solar eclipse
  • Eclipse causing a red moon
  • Why is this upcoming eclipse is special?
  • Total eclipse vs partial eclipse
  • What is the corona during an eclipse
  • Dangers of looking at an eclipse
  • Path of the upcoming eclipse
  • We are living in the best time to view an eclipse
  • What got us interested in science?
  • The importance of questioning everything
  • Real galaxy and nebula photos vs edited photos and artist renditions
  • We can only infer what the Milky Way galaxy looks like from within
  • Nukes from the moon
  • "Poor Man's" way to view the eclipse if you don't have special glasses
  • Importance of a solar filter while taking pictures
  • CERN micro black holes
  • Check out a show at the Peirce Planetarium in Clarion
