When you finally get that well-earned, much needed vacation, it's easy to forget the digital deviants are still hard at work! The summer travel season can be a lot of fun for everyone, including cybercriminals who can try to exploit travelers in unfamiliar settings.
While on the road, consumers often choose convenience over security and carelessly connect to unsecured Wi-Fi, leaving them open to the possibility of having personal information compromised.
To add to the problem, vacationers simply won't unplug during their travels. According to a new McAfee study, more than half (57 percent) of respondents said they went on vacation with the intent to stay connected and not unplug from their devices. In fact, 52 percent report spending at least one hour a day with internet-connected devices while on vacation.
Chief Consumer Security Evangelist at McAfee, Gary Davis, understands how our devices are extensions of ourselves that we rely on for daily tasks. He can advise your listeners on the importance of exercising caution when using devices on vacation, plus:
· The first line of defense for protecting your personal information
· Tips for staying cyber-secure on your summer vacation
· How to stay connected on vacation… if unplugging is just not an option
Gary Davis is Chief Consumer Security Evangelist at McAfee. Through a consumer lens, he partners with internal teams to drive strategic alignment of products with the needs of the security space. Gary also provides security education to businesses and consumers by distilling complex security topics into actionable advice. He is a sought-after speaker on trends in digital security including the evolving threat landscape, privacy and securing the Internet of Things. He has presented at high profile conferences and events including CES, Mobile World Congress, and CTIA Super Mobility. During his 8+ years at McAfee, he has held leadership roles in the consumer and enterprise divisions where he has helped shape various product portfolios and strategic direction along with advocating for cybersecurity education.
