To give diplomacy room to breathe, Twitter wars and propaganda battles must hold back. Negotiations between Ukraine and Russia are continuing. On the one hand we see some hopeful messaging hinting towards a solution, on the other, we hear a lot of posturing aimed at domestic and international audiences. It is important that there be an immediate ceasefire in Ukraine — the finer points of negotiations can continue. If a solution to the Ukraine conflict is not found soon, the focus of Europe and of NATO powers will certainly shift there. If Europe becomes victim to the kind of chaos we have seen develop in Syria or West Asia, where would European Unity be? Therefore, it is imperative that this war must stop, or this conflagration will leave none unaffected. India’s stand is a mature stand which it needs to maintain. Both sides in this conflict have a lot to answer for. The implementation of the ‘universal order’ which is being touted today needs to be examined for how truly ‘universal’ it really was.
