Bukit Timah is a site of urban complexity and historical significance. The quarries around Bukit Timah Hill were built to meet the needs of a growing urban population from the early to mid-20th century, especially during the construction boom of the post-independence period. By the 1970s, the quarries around Bukit Timah Hill were exhausted. Over the years, they have gradually been reclaimed and given a new lease of life as urban parks. Embark on an acoustic journey with artist Oh Chai Hoo through Bukit Timah Nature Reserve. Together, you will traverse areas such as Hindhede Quarry and Dairy Farm Nature Park. By unearthing the historical narratives of the area through Oh’s personal memories, this acoustic journey encourages you to revisit the idea of a landscape: What is its aesthetic appeal? How do we situate ourselves physically or spiritually in a space lost in time? This audio trail is in Mandarin.
