Violence against young people, especially women and girls is a grave violation of human rights.
Its impact ranges from immediate to long-term physical and mental consequences for young people, including death. It negatively affects their general well-being and prevents them from fully participating in society.
Violence not only has negative consequences for young people but also their families, the community and the country at large. This has tremendous negative effect ranging from greater health care and legal expenses and losses in productivity, impacting national budgets and overall development.
The republic of Ghana like every other country in Africa has many young people who face violence everyday, Hence They needs help physically, mentally and emotionally.
Asmau Yakub, a peer educator , a councellor who has worked with many young people in Ghana over the last 10years is our guest on this episode. Asmau is the executive director of Rayuwa Foundation, a Community youth led Non governmental organizations that works towards improving community well-being and eliminating violence especially those affected by girls and children.
