Welcome to Episode 51 of the Messy Truths Podcast. After a brief hiatus, the ladies are back with another raw and candid show. This time your hostesses talk about grief.

Nesha bravely reveals that her mother--affectionately known as The Warden on the show--passed away earlier this year (00:01:00). Thus begins a brutally honest discussion about grief and loss, and the ways in which we try to cope with the death of a loved one.

Mar talks about what experts consider the 7 Stages of grief (00:08:55). Azar discusses how she struggled to deal with the death of her mother (00:14:35), then Mar talks about her own personal experience grieving the loss of her mother, and some of the risk-taking behaviour associated with bereavement (00:15:15]). Nesha emphasizes the importance of writing a will and estate planning (00:24:55). Azar extols the virtues of group counseling and why repressing feelings is a big no-no (00:33:50).

The ladies then talk about the complexities of memorializing and keeping shrines of lost loved ones (00:41:10). Finally, they make it clear that self-care should be a major priority for people grieving and what that may look like (00:48:30).

This Episode 51 is dedicated to The Warden. Rest in power. <3
