Since the 1980s, American sneaker enthusiasts, popularly known as “sneakerheads” or “sneakerholics”, have created a distinctive identity, while sneaker manufacturers such as Nike, Adidas, and Reebok have become global fashion brands. In today's podcast, we tackle Yuniya Kawamura's Sneakers - Fashion, Gender, and Subculture, the first sociological study dedicated entirely to sneakers.
