While Mike McCarthy would be the safe and sound choice, first-time coaches like Aaron Glenn and Joe Brady may bring more long-term and sustainable success. The Saints should follow their initial instinct and not get distracted by the newest name on the market.

Derek Carr, Cameron Jordan, Taysom Hill, Demario Davis, Ryan Ramczyk and Tyrann Mathieu are currently taking up almost half of the Saints' projected 2025 NFL salary cap. After firing Dennis Allen, the Saints also opened up their defensive coordinator role. While Robert Saleh would be an excellent hire, he may be back for another head coach role elsewhere. The DC opening presents the Saints a real chance to show some major improvement on defense and in specific areas where they need the most help, like against mobile quarterbacks.
