This episode we speak to Tom Lord, a political violence researcher that covers violence from all sides of the spectrum but with particular focus on the European neo fascists. Tom is also a co-found of Militant Wire, and this interview is a part of the ongoing collaboration between 5thGen and Militant Wire.
We discuss the root causes of some genocides in Europe and briefly touch on Italy, how the rise of the Italian fascist party mirrored situations in the Balkans, and how the region was key in starting both world wars. We also touch on t modern fascism discussing Giorgia Miloni’s ties to the neo-fascist party that followed the downfall of the Italian National Fascist Party with other EU fascists, some holding office, such as golden dawn.
This all culminates in a wider understanding of NATO and former Yugoslavia’s relations and subsequent conflict over the Bosnian genocide.
