KCART is proud to present the first radio play of its new “Amplify” series, where young playwrights have the chance to experience the process of producing their radio play from start to finish.

In “Mama Knows the Game,” it’s a normal Friday afternoon when middle-schooler Taveon abruptly runs into the wall of racism prevalent in the online gaming community. With the guidance and motivation of his parents, he learns important lessons about how a Black kid must navigate the treacherous world of white supremacy.

Featuring Teisha Bankston, Robert Coppage III, Terraye Rugga Watson, and Jerry Mañan with direction from Shawna Peña-Downing and sound design by Mary Robinson. Written by SaVaughn McClaine, a comedy writer and actor from Kansas City, Kansas, and a rising sophomore at The Theatre School at DePaul in Chicago.

-----

Among KCART’s program sponsors are the Richard J. Stern Foundation for the Arts, the Estelle S. and Robert A. Long Ellis Foundation, the Miller-Nichols Foundation, ArtsKC, the Missouri Arts Council, the National Endowment for the Arts, Theater League, and the Breidenthal-Snyder Foundation.
