The USDA and FDA have both approved lab-grown chicken in the US.
But farmers and ranchers fear the competition. They worry it could threaten traditional food production.
Now they've lobbied and convinced some politicians to ban it.
I ask one lobbyist, “Why not let us consumers decide? Why are you bribing politicians to ban it?"
He says, “The government has a legitimate role in ensuring that we have an abundant and affordable and safe food supply—you can't say that about this lab grown meat.”
But having another option will make our food supply MORE resistant to disruption.
Anyway, we should have the freedom to decide for ourselves if lab-grown meat, or lab grown anything, is something we want.
Our new video argues that it is wrong when politicians make that decision for us.
