Episode 4 of the Joe and Mike podcast. In this podcast, we discuss the technology and ethical implications of human genetic engineering.
One interesting aspect of this issue that we didn't get into during this conversation is that the hypotheical scenario we discuss of a totalitarian regime wanting to engineer its population to ensure the regimes continuation is more likely than we first thought. If the technology were available and the "big data" problem solved, it seems likely that many of the worlds current regimes would seriously abuse this technology.
