There is always time to fux with luxury. It is a privilege to be in sumptuous surroundings. I had a recent experience of being enveloped in sumptuous delights, surrounded by things inessential but conducive to incredible comfort and pleasure. Sumptuous surroundings, the concept of luxury, that to me is the distinction of why I use the term Black Futures Month instead of Black History Month. Black History wants us to emphasize a time where Black People were limited in their ability to openly engage in activity that was inessential but conducive to pleasure. Toiling in the fields is the image that is seared into our brains. Black Futures evokes a time period where the basis of how we live is conducive to comfort and pleasure. In those Black Futures, we are going to look good too! In this episode, we'll also spotlight four Luxury Designer Labels founded by (Uppity) Black Women that you can buy instead of Gucci: House of Takura, Andrea Iyamah, Hanifa, and Frances Grey.
