วิทยานิพนธ์ระดับปริญญาโทเรื่อง “แม่บ้าน on the Move: สังคมคนเมืองกับอาชีพคนทำงานบ้านอิสระ” ของ ญาดา ช่วยจำแนก มหาบัณฑิตคณะสังคมวิทยาและมานุษยวิทยา มหาวิทยาลัยธรรมศาสตร์ ได้นำเสนอให้เห็นปรากฏการณ์และข้อค้นพบของอาชีพแม่บ้านผ่านชีวิตผู้หญิงในสังคมไทยที่เข้ามาทำงานในเมืองหลวงนับตั้งแต่ทศวรรษ 2500 ภายใต้ความเปลี่ยนแปลงทางด้านเศรษฐกิจ สังคม ที่พักอาศัยจากบ้านสู่ที่พักแนวตั้งแบบคอนโดมิเนียม การเคลื่อนย้ายสถานะทางสังคมและทางเศรษฐกิจของคนทำงานอาชีพแม่บ้าน การสร้างเครือข่ายทางสังคม การต่อรองอำนาจระหว่างแม่บ้านกับลูกค้า และการเป็นแรงงานแพลตฟอร์มซึ่งเป็นเทรนด์ของการทำงานยุคปัจจุบัน
