Here's an idea worth playing with is a podcast about cultivating better companies - the kind of companies where work gets done but not at the expense of people. It's about leadership, communication, creativity and critical thinking - as well as a hefty dose of straight forward business advice. It's for anyone looking to cultivate the kind of company that enriches the lives of all who work in it. The title comes from the fact that other ways often work, so even though what Rob shares is based on his vast experience, it's still an idea that he believes is worth you playing with, modifying, extending and noodling over. Rob Lambert is an award winning communication teacher and trainer, international keynote presenter, experienced leader and manager, HR Exec and career coach. His lifelong passion for creativity and communication come together here with his experience of business to give you insightful, actionable and interesting ideas to play with. Rob is also a father of three sons, a publisher, a writer, a podcaster and a film maker. He is the co-host of the wildly popular Stationery Freaks podcast. Rob is the founder of Cultivated Management - a communication consultancy company helping leaders and managers lead companies to a brighter future. Please support the podcast by subscribing and leaving a review - thank you. https://cultivatedmanagement.com/ Hosted on Transistor. See https://transistor.fm/privacy/ for more information.

In this episode I share the idea of a book being written about the business you work in. That book started on the first day of the business - and continues to be written every single day. It's therefore an idea to consider what your current chapter of the book is about. What's your contribution to this big book of the business? Is this chapter a horror, or drama, or action packed adventure? Find out more about Cultivated Management here : https://www.cultivatedmanagement.com/…

In this episode of "Here's An Idea Worth Playing With" I talk about the method of Friction v Reward, how it's creator, Richard Hammond, uses it and how I use a similar model for business improvement.
In today's cast and post I'm introducing a model of leisure time from the 1920's! I'll introduce the Netflix challenge (a dysfunctional game being played at a workplace) and explain how I draw connections to work from what is a sociology lifestyle model. How we choose to use our leisure time has been a hotly debated inquiry into society itself. I won't go that deep - but I will share how I see this model helping me as a leader.…
I am in Zurich, capturing the sounds of the city - and also sharing 3 helpful ways to frame any conversation about value. We often need executive buy-in, support or air cover for our work, but many people fail to communicate these ideas effectively. Well, here's an idea worth playing with - frame your requests in language that resonates and a frame that makes sense. I share the 3 elements of the frame as well as some cracking audio of Cathedral bells, rivers and more from Zurich. As usual, you can find more content on cultivatedmanagement.com You can find BTS footage, images and video from Zurich on Instagram - @simplylambert Thanks Rob..…
Hi, I hope you are doing well. Welcome to another Here’s An Idea Worth Playing With (HAIWPW). The weekly audio show about ideas that I think are worth playing with. I recorded this at lunch today, after recording a video about park benches (yes, you read that right). I was at Avington Park , a wonderful estate just outside of Winchester. It was cold. There were some menacing looking bulls. The swans were circling. Some bird watchers were hanging around. And I was musing about the 8 different types of intelligence and playing with the idea that our workplaces may benefit from appreciating, amplifying and accelerating the diversity of intelligence. This list is from this source . The 8: Spatial intelligence - Abstract and dimensional thinking Bodily-kinesthetic intelligence - Understanding our body Musical intelligence - Sensitivity to rhythm, etc Linguistic/Language intelligence - flow, correct words, melody, tone Logical-mathematical intelligence - The ability to analyze problems logically (the classical idea of intelligence) Interpersonal intelligence - The ability to interact effectively with others Intrapersonal intelligence - Sensitivity to one’s own feelings, goals, capabilities and values Naturalistic intelligence - The ability to understand nature I mention: The communication workshop (we cover a couple of these 8 in this course). The Trinity of Career Development The 10 Behaviours of Effective Employees That’s been an idea worth playing with. Have a fab week. Rob..…
In this episode I talk about using your calendar wisely by time blocking but offer some caution - simply filling your calendar with "stuff" often doesn't take account of your energy and attention. Some activities give energy, some deplete and all are vying for your attention. In this episode I share why the right deadlines can really drive momentum and help us get things done. Without deadlines work could meander on and we also can't hold ourselves accountable. Deadlines are helpful but the wrong type of deadlines (i.e. those made up for no reason) will drive the wrong behaviours.
