Joining us is award winning TV anchor and sportscaster Hope Hines. Hope Hines joined WTVF, then known as WLAC-TV, as Sports Director in 1971 following his graduation with a Bachelor of Arts in journalism from the University of Georgia. Go Dawgs! In 1975, Hope moved to San Diego, California to become Sports Director of KFMB-TV. He also served as the play-by-play radio broadcaster for the NFL's San Diego Chargers in San Diego. For a time, Hope worked for WWL-TV in New Orleans, and served as the television play-by-play announcer for the New Orleans Saints. After a couple more stops Hope moved back to Nashville ​in 1983, where he was "on-air" for a total of 35 years. Hines retired from WTVF-TV in July 2011. His memoir, In Hines' Sight, was published shortly after retirement.
Hope values God and Family and a positive outlook on life. He was married to his wife, Pat, for 44 years, but is now a widower. He has three grown and married children, and seven grandchildren. Hope has won six broadcast Emmy Awards and has also been named Best Sportscaster in the Southeast. He was named a recipient of the Silver Circle Award by the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences for his 25 Years of Distinguished Service to the Industry.
