Beep! Beep! (That’s you, excitedly honking your horn)

Thank you for calling GIH where we instigate growth one call at a time where we utilize antiquated technology to deliver 3-minute leadership lessons every week day! This is message #140 and I am Aaron Havens.

Think about a time in life where something amazing happened to you or for you. Maybe a bit unexpected.

Winning a lottery ticket. Closing a big deal. Getting accepted. Finding out some excited news. Something big. So big, you were overcome with excitement. When you found out the big news were you in a place where you could publicly celebrate? Or did you need to put your sophisticated big girl and big boy face on while trying not to smile or smirk? Here’s what I would say to that…

NO WAY MAN.

If you found out that good news while driving you should HONK THAT HORN!!!!! REPEATIDLY. A little obnoxious (ps while obviously judgement is required, this advice given by Aaron during this call is his own view and may not represent the view of Growth Instigators. This is not legal advice). When now that that disclaimer is over. Yeah man. HONK THAT HORN. Or do a little dance, or jump up and shout with glee. Or if that is too much. Maybe you can give yourself permission to smile and say yay.

Life is too short to be around people who you are not comfortable jumping up and giving high fives when something good happens. We work too hard to have to be dignified and proper. By giving yourself permission to celebrate publicly, you’ve pulled others into the celebration dance and you’ve given them an example and permission to do the same when life surprises them. Let’s be a people that celebrates and pauses. Good job you! Go for it. And to quote Oprah Winfrey "The more you praise and celebrate your life, the more there is in life to celebrate.” Isn’t that true. Noticing the things worth celebrating gets us looking for more moments to celebrate. So to you I say HONK HONK. Go get em’

Thanks for calling in today. Tune in tomorrow for the weekend edition. After the beep I’d love to hear from you. Take me on a story. I time you had to celebrate. Couldn’t keep it in.
