In light of growing concerns surrounding a potential dengue fever outbreak, the Environmental Health Division has taken proactive steps to enhance mosquito control efforts across the island.
Recognizing the serious public health risk posed by mosquito-borne diseases, the Division has adopted a multi-faceted approach aimed at safeguarding the well-being of all citizens. Since the launch of a comprehensive vector awareness campaign in July 2024, the Environmental Health Division has implemented a series of targeted measures designed to mitigate the risk of dengue fever and other mosquito-borne illnesses. These initiatives are a key part of the Division’s strategy to ensure that communities remain vigilant and informed throughout the ongoing rainy season, which is typically associated with increased mosquito activity.
Key initiatives by the Environmental Health Division include, house-to-house inspections; identification and treatment of abandoned or open water sources; and ongoing vector education.
