Dr Jodi Richardson is an expert on anxiety and has written multiple books to support parents, teachers and women. Today she (& her puppies) help us learn to recognise, befriend and manage our anxiety so it doesn’t rule the day and make the important decisions. We discussed anticipating that people are more likely to be anxious at the moment . We will not always know specifically why and that is ok. Anxiety can be very challenging to deal but is emotional data and and with techniques and self-compassion we can manage it - but we cannot just switch it off.

We discuss:

⚡️finding space and managing energy

⚡️the power of recognising wins

⚡️progress is a huge source of daily joy

⚡️anxiety is the brain and body response in anticipation of threat

⚡️fear is the response to a real and present danger

⚡️anxiety is an unpleasant physiological response from note to toes

⚡️Anxiety is natural and protective

⚡️Anxiety disorder is when your brain is over-protective

⚡️Breath-work is a highly effective way to initiate the relaxation response

⚡️Some breath-work exercises to try

⚡️Tell someone to calm down is not necessarily helpful

⚡️Jodi shares her personal experience of untreated anxiety and depression

⚡️Melissa shares her experience of anxiety through menopause

⚡️A call to action to take ownership of your health - do not wait till crisis We hope that you find these resources helpful and wish you all the best with your health and wellbeing in your leadership and life. So life.
